Inducible macrolides-lincosamides-streptogramin B resistance in Bacteroides species.

چکیده
The first evidence is presented for the presence of inducible macrolides-lincosamides-streptogramin B resistance in Bacteroides species. Different macrolides induced clindamycin resistance in Bacteroides vulgatus RYC18F6, an erythromycin-resistant and clindamycin-susceptible strain. A study of 144 Bacteroides isolates indicated that erythromycin resistance was linked to diminished clindamycin susceptibility.

Prevalence of Macrolide-Lincosamide-Streptogramin B (MLSB) Resistance in S. aureus Isolated from Patients in Tehran, Iran
Background and Objectives: Staphylococcus aureus is an important cause of nosocomial and community-acquired infections in every region of the world. Clindamycin is one of the alternative agents used to treat S. aureus infections and accurate identification of clindamycin resistance is important to prevent therapeutic failure. Unfortunately, inducible clindamycin resistance is ...
متن کاملStaphylococcus sciuri gene erm(33), encoding inducible resistance to macrolides, lincosamides, and streptogramin B antibiotics, is a product of recombination between erm(C) and erm(A).
A gene which mediates inducible resistance to macrolides, lincosamides, and streptogramin B antibiotics, designated erm(33), was detected on the Staphylococcus sciuri plasmid pSCFS1. Analysis of the erm(33) reading frame suggested that this gene was the product of a recombination between an erm(C) gene and an erm(A) gene. Such a recombination event is a novel observation for erm genes.
متن کاملPneumococcal resistance to macrolides, lincosamides, ketolides, and streptogramin B agents: molecular mechanisms and resistance phenotypes.
The macrolides, lincosamides, ketolides, and streptogramin B agents (the MLKS(B) antimicrobial agents) have related chemical structures and share similar molecular targets on the 50S ribosomal subunit of Streptococcus pneumoniae. Mutations in rRNA or ribosomal proteins generate a variety of resistance phenotypes. The M phenotype of S. pneumoniae, which predominates in North America, affords low...
متن کاملInducible Clindamycin Resistance in Staphylococcus aureus Isolated from Clinical Samples
Increasing frequency of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections and changing patterns in antimicrobial resistance have led to renewed interest in the use of macrolide-lincosamide-streptogramin (MLS) antibiotics to treat such infections. Inducible macrolides, lincosamides, type B streptogramins (MLS(Bi)) resistance has to be identified to avoid clinical failure of clindamyc...
متن کاملGenetic and phenotypic characterization of resistance to macrolides in Streptococcus pyogenes from Argentina.
Five hundred and seventy-eight strains of group A streptococci (GAS) isolated mostly from paediatric pharyngeal swabs were tested to evaluate their susceptibility to erythromycin. Resistant strains were then tested for their MICs to erythromycin and clindamycin, their phenotype of resistance to macrolides-lincosamides-streptogramin (MLS(B)) and for the presence of macrolide resistance genes. Th...
